About Me.

Dr. Bhavik Patel is a Consultant Surgeon for Acute Care (Emergency) and Trauma Surgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital and Consultant Surgeon for Acute Care (Emergency) Surgery at St. Andrews War Memorial Hospital, Brisbane.

After attaining his primary medical degree (M.B.B.S) followed by a Master’s Degree in General Surgery (M.S) from the University of Mumbai, (India) Dr. Patel moved to Australia where he completed a Master’s degree in Research (M.Phil) from the University of Queensland.  Dr. Patel is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and as part of his fellowship training, has worked at various public hospitals across Queensland including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. During this period, he’s gained experience in all subspecialties of general surgery namely Breast and Endocrine, Hepatobiliary Pancreatic, Colorectal and Burns surgery.

His interest lies in Acute Care (Emergency) and Trauma surgery.

Dr Patel instructs at the EMST and DSTC trauma training courses conducted by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. He is also an Honorary Adjunct Associate Professor at the Bond University, Gold Coast and is involved in teaching trainee surgeons, medical students and allied health staff. Dr. Patel is a recipient of various prestigious research scholarships and conducts multi-institutional studies across Australia.

Dr. Patel has been a visiting surgeon at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Centre, University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA.

In his current practice, Dr Patel is involved with all aspects of acute care, general and trauma surgery.
